mental health problems are common. During their lifetimes, about 1 in 7 people have a period of depression that’s serious enough to need treatment. Depression is much more than feeling a bit down. with depression may feel sad and tearful most of the time. They lose interest in things they used to enjoy, feel hopeless and lacking in energy. They often have a hard time making decisions and find it hard to cope with everyday life.. But some studies have found that people who aren’t very active have a higher risk of mental health problems. Researchers have now looked at nearly 20,000 adults in Scotland to try to find out if there’s a link between physical activity and better mental health.
